The 1971-built dry cargo ship, "BATUHAN A," has sunk in the Sea of Marmara, southwest of İmralı Island. The vessel, reportedly carrying a crew of six Turkish citizens, is currently the focus of intensive rescue efforts.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya stated: “Search and rescue activities started for the ship Batuhan A, which sank off the coast of Bursa Karacabey in the Marmara Sea this morning. @sahilguvko is accompanied by airplanes.”
As far as we learned, the shipowner was also on the ship. He might have signed up as a master sailor in order to board the ship. Additionally, Captain Mehmet was also on the ship.
