The Bangladesh-based company has recently acquired two supramax vessels, each 12 years old, adding to its growing inventory.

The newly added vessels, one constructed by Kawasaki Heavy and the other by Tsuneishi Cebu, follow SR's strategic decision to sell two older handymax ships for scrap earlier this year. With these latest acquisitions, SR Shipping’s fleet now comprises 20 vessels, boasting an average age of 16 years.

The company is focused on enhancing its capabilities by acquiring semi-modern to modern bulkers, having secured seven ship purchases since the beginning of 2023, including two ultramax vessels. The latest acquisitions, named Khadeejah Jahan I and Aisha Sarwar I, were purchased from Japanese owners Misuga Kaiun and IMECS Co. While the specific purchase prices have not been disclosed, VesselsValue estimates each ship's worth at around $20 million.

As SR Shipping continues to expand, it aims to position itself as a formidable player in the bulk shipping industry, enhancing its operational efficiency and service offerings.
