The male passenger, who has not been identified, reportedly jumped from the 20-deck high vessel on Sunday as it began a seven-day Caribbean cruise, with its first stop in Honduras.
According to the New York Post, the Coast Guard had minimal involvement in the incident but assisted in the search. They reported that “the cruise ship deployed one of their rescue boats, located the man, and brought him back aboard,” where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
At the time of the incident, which occurred in the morning, the cruise ship was approximately 300 miles from PortMiami and around 30 to 40 miles north of Santa Lucia, Cuba, according to Cruise Hive.
