Houthi rebels have carried out a deadly ballistic missile attack on the M/V True Confidence, a Barbados-flagged bulk carrier in the Gulf of Aden.

As the first loss of lives during the conflict shocked the maritime World, three crew members lost their lives, with at least six others sustaining injuries, marking the first time the Iran-backed group has caused fatalities in their ongoing assault on Red Sea shipping.

IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez shared his feelings about the incident. He said, “It is deeply saddening to follow the horrific reports of the casualties on the Merchant In the video which was shared by IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez expressed his vessel through confidence following an attack the ship Southwest of Aden, Yemen.”

“I extend my deepest condolences and those of the entire IMO family to the families of those who lost their lives and our thoughts are with those who have been injured” adds Arsenio.

But there have been rising voices from the maritime World against Arsenio’s speech on social media. Some consider that IMO acts pacifist against happenings and does nothing to prevent casualties.

Maritime Journalist Johh Conrad shared a post on his X page and said: “You’re the head of the most powerful maritime organization in the world. We expect more than “your thoughts” Arsenio. We seafarers expect swift and decisive action by our UN representatives!

What ACTIONS are you taking?”
