Students studying at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) Department of Maritime Transportation Management Engineering in Trabzon's Sürmene district Çarşı Neighborhood rented a private shuttle service due to transportation problems. Minibus drivers who were angry that university students rented a shuttle service blocked the students' vehicle.
When the argument between the shuttle driver, students and minibus drivers turned into a brawl, some students and the shuttle driver were attacked. Police teams were dispatched to the scene upon the students' report. While the students who received a battering report filed a complaint, an investigation was launched.
After the maritime students were attacked by bus drivers in Trabzon, Turkey, the maritime community raised its voice in solidarity following the incident. Mainstream media felt compelled to publish the incident after the heightened concern within Turkey's maritime community.
It was reported that four attackers were arrested by the police.
