A Hong Kong-flagged container ship named "YM Witness" collided with three cranes while attempting to dock at Kocaeli Evyap Port on March 16, causing them to overturn. The incident occurred during the berthing maneuver under the supervision of a pilot.
According to the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, efforts are underway to dismantle the damaged cranes in the harbor. In a statement, they confirmed that a successful operation was carried out to remove part of the harbor crane lodged on the YM Witness ship.
The vessel, which is currently under investigation, has been safely moored.
The General Directorate assured that the dismantling process of the affected cranes is ongoing, with the aim of restoring the port's functionality as soon as possible.
